Cooking & Baking
Related: About this forumWhat cooking shows do you all watch?
I tend to be watching competition type cooking shows, but, I'm cynical.
I feel, they know ahead of time, what the " challenge" will be.
And also, I'm getting tired of these " competitors, talking to the cam, with their," personality "
I remember Emeril, Julia, Wolfgang.
They taught cooking.

(19,382 posts)I think all reality shows are for the most part. Im just glad its different from Hells Kitchen which I watch a few seasons but became very repetitive.

(3,057 posts)HK,( I've seen them all), starts with 16-20 contestants, no 2 are the same. You will find one you like, you will find one you hate.
I believe, HK , looks at the metrics, for next weeks show, until about , the last 7 .
By then, they got you hooked.

(25,095 posts)everything? I bet it's millions and millions (just like the number of songs out there). I say stick w/ the few that you like, and slowly expand to include other nice / good recipes that you or your friends encounter. My Mom compiled all of them into a family cookbook, that she gave out for Xmas, it was wonderful. And I still use it too, even though it is worn out.

(1,928 posts)Kind and gentle cooking, respect for the ingredients and not all about technique. Great recipes and food.
Pati is good too. Funny and her trips to Mexico are great. And her kids.

Otherwise, Iron Chef (I discovered it while on a trip to Japan) to Good Eats. Netflix has some of the Brazilian and Mexican Iron Chef spinoffs. I've also become addicted to Korean cooking shows on Netflix.
kozar
(3,057 posts)I'll check out , thanks.
Iron Chef, too many reincarnations, way too many weird ingredients that it is no longer,
A cooking show.

(4,029 posts)It's silly, but I enjoy watching them bargain with shoppers for their groceries.
kozar
(3,057 posts)And think,
I just planned my meals, bought my food. Only got hit twice by carts.
Would I do that again? For 100 bucks? No. I agree, it is a silly show.

(4,029 posts)I wouldn't go back and re-shop for that.
But if I did sell my groceries, I'd go hang out and watch them cook.
