When a family member tells you that prayer will cure your anxiety

It is confounding and painful to hear.

I'm going to need to learn to stop trying to reach out for support, they just cannot give it.
Mental Health issues are as real as diabetes or heart disease, and are as invisible.

Gonna to do some of these things from tbe tweet.

(Today sucks big time)

If you have any addiction issues then no, I guess.

It is gonna be a bumpy ride.

I see it mentions lavender, which is interesting as I use lavender bar soap to quell my Charlie horse leg cramps in bed.

I would think the family member's advice to be lacking, but at least they did try to offer something, hopefully you will take it as a kind if not very helpful gesture on their part.

My family was the worst of my support systems. Get the help (and meds) you need, you are worth it. Hugs!

Yes, chronic stress, such as we have all been living under, is a monster!

Maybe just let the audio play?

I’ve been going on benzodiazepines for many years, it has helped me but has side effects. One of my tricks is some lavender oil on the pillow case. It’s great to breathe it in and helps settle and tamper me down.

I come from a thoughts and prayers family. While I believe in God the “prayers” seem to me more pitying than support. I just say thanks and move on and focus on my stuff. I cannot control them and just focus on things I can do for myself.

Good luck and breathing is a huge key.

breathes helps. Touching and holding helps. I have my two dogs. Oh, another thing that helps me is drinking a glass of water. Funny, so simple, but works for me.

Got the heart tests, etc. and the interview to discuss the appearance of my pain and the results of the tests.

My heart is in great shape and not the source of my pain. So, next the questions about when did the pains start and stop. When I watch the news on TV and Mr. Trump's image is shown and I hear his voice -- that starts the pains. I really lock my attention on him. The chest pains begin within a few minutes, and they can continue for 30 minutes after he disappears. But, no pain when news reporters and commentators discuss Mr. Trump and his loyal criminals.

Diagnosis: Anxiety caused by Trump's image and voice, and my feelings about the evil he does.
Prescription: Stop watching and listening to Trump. (Yes. That stopped my anxiety pains.)
Comment by cardiologist: My case is common, especially after Mr. Trump's deporting the parents, and caging the babies and children who cross the Tex-Mex border.

BHS Social Worker offers the best advice. Take it. Don't reach out for support from people who are not trained to help.

prayer was the answer. He did not want my brother seeing a psychiatrist.

My brother ignored this advice. The odd thing is, my brother is a strong Christian and very involved with his church. The psychiatrist was a great help my brother. Of course.

I will gladly tell them off for you if you'd like. As a manic depressive and anxiety ridden mess. I'd give anyone lip service for being inconsiderate
