Moscow still has their Christmas decorations up. Guess why.

European journalists reporting from Moscow showed clips that the official Christmas-decorations hung up by the city are still up. (I couldn't find a video-clip.) Christmas in Russia is on Dec 25th in the medieval Julianic Calendar, which corresponds to January 7th in the modern Gregorian Calendar.

In any way, Christmas in Russia has been over for 2 months now.

So why are the decorations still up?

Because a third of Russians supports the war. A third has no opinion. A third is against the war but afraid to speak out against the government.

The russian government is trying to put on a happy face. With Christmas decorations still up while Easter is just a month away.
