Back in 2005 Putin realized that the victory of the Red Army in WW2 can be exploited for propagandistic purposes almost forever. Every year the celebration of Victory Day on May 9th is the best holiday Putin could've asked for. The patriotic feelings are at their highest for a very long time. But as soon as invasion into Ukraine started, this became the demise of the Russian propaganda. It was no longer about eternal glory and heroism. Instead, it turned into mercenary like business.
