Israel challenges Syria's new leaders with demand for demilitarisation of south

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has demanded the complete demilitarisation of much of southern Syria.
...
In a speech to Israeli military cadets on Sunday, Netanyahu said that Israel would not allow the forces of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) - the Islamist group that led the overthrow of Assad - nor the new Syrian army that is being formed to "enter the area south of Damascus".

"We demand the complete demilitarisation of southern Syria in the provinces of Quneitra, Deraa and Suweida from the forces of the new regime," he added. "Likewise, we will not tolerate any threat to the Druze community in southern Syria."

He also said that Israeli forces would remain indefinitely inside the Syrian territory that they have seized since Assad's fall last December - which would be a shift in Israeli strategy.

Seizing territory, demanding a neighbour demilitarize a significant part of their own country - is it any wonder that Israel voted with Russia on the UN resolution about Russia's invasion of Ukraine?

Netanyahu is NOT an ally of the US.
Netanyahu is a War Criminal who doesn’t care about the people of Israel.
The Israelis want him out, but the extremists are controlling everything.
At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are stealing elections.

All aide to Israel need to be cut. We need a peace agreement, similar to what President Carter was close to finalizing.

Netanyahu has turned Israel into a terrorist nation, the children of Israel will suffer for his brutality when the world turns their backs on them.

Netanyahu - Trump - Putin are all the same !

I’m heartbroken. I want peace in the Mideast and safety for all people.

Adding this: I support Israel’s right to exist. I denounce all the terrorist groups around the world.

Or Islamic Jihad, or al Aqsa martyrs brigade.

Just that Israel is a "terrorist nation".

I can’t make a strong statement against Netanyahu without some people calling me out as supporting Hate, Violence and Death by the extremists who have terrorized the MidEast for years.

I have posted many times that I support Israel’s right to exist and have donated to JDL in the past.

Today, Netanyahu is an ENEMY of the people of Israel.

Continue to deny this and the good, observant people of Israel will suffer.

The Israelis go to the street in millions to protest this regime.
They hate him too.

To support Israel, arrest Netanyahu and send him to The Hague.

We need a two-state solution.

If you are against a two-state solution…you are against the Israeli people.
Your hardline stance costs lives, over and over and over.

And you prolong their suffering.
