Iranian lawmakers believe Tehran’s problems are irreparable and that the only solution is to relocate the capital elsewhere. Unexpectedly, the IRGC supports the move. The problems facing Tehran include overpopulation, water subsidence, inadequate infrastructure, distance from ports, vulnerability to earthquakes, and the concentration of commercial activity which hampers economic development elsewhere in the country.
