Kursk Syndrome: Russia as a Weakened Host on the Brink of Collapse Fundraiser - Econ Lessons

In 2025, Ukraine’s incursions into Russia, such as the Kursk offensive, metaphorically resemble a viral infection attacking a weakened host. I draw an analogy by explaining how as a small virus can bring down a mighty organism, these targeted operations—coupled with Russia’s economic decline—could trigger systemic collapse. Drawing on evolutionary biology and the Star Trek episode The Immunity Syndrome, this video explores how adaptive, asymmetric warfare and economic stress could bring an end to Russia’s imperial ambitions. Could Ukraine’s strategy be the catalyst for Russia’s downfall? As a monetary economist I see the economic decline opens Russia up to a full collapse when the system is under stress.
