...and I'm sure the tech will be refined so that the vehicle itself can be built out a little more, because right now it just looks so fragile.

It has an innerstructure made out of carbon fiber, CF-smc, and outer panel made out of FG-SMC (fibergass). It also has crumple zones, air bags, and some other structural safety features. They are expecting it pass the crash testing. Time will tell.
