A unit of CHN Energy Investment Group Co Ltd has successfully connected to the grid China’s first integrated offshore facility combining solar photovoltaic (PV) generation, hydrogen production and refueling, and energy storage.

The project in question was realised on the coastal tidal flats of the Yudong Reclamation Area in Rudong County, CHN Energy announced, adding that the milestone was achieved on December 31, 2024.

The 287-hectare facility, operated by CHN Energy’s subsidiary Guohua Energy Investment Co Ltd, has a power generation capacity of 400 MW and energy storage capacity of 60 MW/120 MWh. The on-site hydrogen production and refueling station has a capacity of 1,500 cubic metres per hour and 500 kilograms per day.

CHN Energy said it expects this project to help improve grid stability and peak-shaving capabilities, while also contributing to the sustainable development in the county and the surrounding areas.
