BALTIMORE —
Nurses at St. Agnes Hospital staged a 24-hour strike Thursday over working conditions.

Officials at the hospital in Southwest Baltimore told 11 News that 70% of the nursing staff reported for duty and contract workers filled any gaps.

Registered nurses started to strike Thursday morning and will go through Friday morning in an effort to raise public awareness and bring pressure to the bargaining table, organizers said.

"We are not asking for anything outrageous," said Nicki Horvat, a registered nurse. "We are asking for things that should be baseline in any patient-care setting."
