NSK-AKS Precision Ball Company will close its Clarinda, Iowa, plant.

NSK Americas plans to close the local facility sometime between December 2024 and March 2025, officials said.

The plant, which employs 54 people, produces ball bearings for many markets, including the automotive industry and equipment manufacturers.

“In the last several years, probably 10 years or so, many markets this facility served have moved offshore so we’ve had considerable reduction in manufacturing demand,” said Ed Jabri, NSK Americas vice president of supply chain, environmental health and safety, and expansions. “This affects the decision to close.”
