Government to Resume Visa Requirement for Americans entering Brazil
Measure will also apply to Canada and Australia

The Lula administration will once again require US citizens to obtain a visa in order to enter Brazil, according to the Presidential Palace. The measure takes effect on Thursday, the 10th.
The decision had already been made before President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on several countries around the world, including Brazil, which was hit with a 10% tax on its products.
Visa requirements will also be reinstated for tourists from Canada and Australia, based on the principle of reciprocity, since those countries also require the document from Brazilians.
Tourists from Japan remain exempt from the visa requirement, as the country has offered a waiver to Brazil since 2023.
