This is a school board member with close ties to the local Tea Party and Republican committee. Has been on the board for 3 years, actively working against the schools (has never supported the schools' budget, tosses accusations against staff, praises the local board who underfunds the schools annually). She is one of 3 on the School Board with strong political ties and they have been pushing for schools to open 100% for in-person learning, which is just not possible given the state guidelines. After an update on the schools' plans to offer hybrid learning beginning October 12, she gave her closing remarks rambling about how important it is to get all kids back in school. After listing groups that are suffering (kids, parents, grandparents, and aunties) she spoke about cats. It was either a joke gone terribly wrong or she thought she was making a strong case for 100% in person learning. For many of us who follow local politics this was just the latest - and most shareable - gaff of hers from the dais.
