The Oklahoma man arrested while driving with his dead wifes body was wearing only his underwear and apparently positioned the womans body upside-down in the passenger seat, police said.
Police in Eloy stopped Rodney Puckett, 70, on Monday after he was spotted outside a Carls Jr. restaurant near Interstate 10, southeast of Phoenix. An employee told a responding detective that two people had just pulled up to pick up their food while naked, police said in an updated statement released Tuesday.
The position of the woman caused immediate concern because she laying with her head on the floorboard and her legs towards the headrest, police said.
Puckett, who was wearing only his skivvies, told police that his 74-year-old wife, Linda, died while they were staying at a hotel in El Paso, Texas, and that he loaded her body onto a luggage cart before putting it into the couples car to continue on their trip.
When Rodney was unable to wake Linda, he loaded her onto a luggage cart and then placed her in his vehicle, the statement continued. It is not clear what his intentions were at this point.

(38,726 posts)Today, in the U.S.A. there are about 325,000,000 people. But when awful things happen, many people do not know what to do. This man and his wife were in another state when this happened. Obviously, this man lost his sanity after his wife's death.

(14,964 posts)for a year, right after I graduated HS in 1995. There was a man that would drive around with a female mannequin everywhere he went, I obviously always wondered and still do what the story was, then Lars and the Real Girl came out and I thought maybe it was a similar story. This made me think of that, although very different.
Poor man, I hope he gets the help he needs and they don't throw him in jail or similar. I no longer trust the police to do the right thing unfortunately.

The womans cause and manner of death are still pending and require additional testing that could take anywhere from six and 12 weeks, a spokeswoman for the Pinal County Medical Examiners Office told The Post on Wednesday."
