Underly (D), Kinser (R) advance in three-way DPI primary

State Superintendent Jill Underly and Wauwatosa education consultant Brittany Kinser will face off on April 1 after advancing through a three-way primary.

With 86% of precincts reporting, Underly had 37.1%, while Kinser had 35.4%. Sauk Prairie Superintendent Jeff Wright was in third place at 27.5%.

The Associated Press projected Underly and Kinser would advance to the spring election.

Following the results, Underly reminded voters of her accomplishments as state superintendent and the work she still has to do to defeat Kinser in the April 1 election.

“I am deeply grateful to the voters of Wisconsin for their support in this primary election,” Underly said in a statement. “We have a shared commitment to Wisconsin’s public schools, educators, and most importantly, our kids.”
