Wisconsin Supreme Court race draws billionaires, political parties

In 2023, two candidates spent a record amount of money in a nationally watched race for control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

The 2025 candidates might find a way to top them.

Susan Crawford and Brad Schimel, who are running against each other in the April 1 election for the Supreme Court, have collectively brought in over $12 million. Their fundraising is already ahead of where Janet Protasiewicz and Dan Kelly were two years ago.

That’s despite the fact that the 2025 contest lacks a competitive primary and still might not be on the radar screens of most Wisconsinites.
