Our ruling
Arguing for a series of tough-on-crime bills, Sanfelippo said in a statewide radio address that violent crime "increased in all but two Wisconsin cities between 2008 and 2017."
Almost every word of that is wrong.
Any comparison should have factored in the 2018 data, which was available at the time. The comparisons shouldnt include the many places where reporting practices changed. And even the use of the word cities is wrong since the dataset includes towns and villages.
Most importantly, Sanfelipo misstated the claim he was trying to repeat. In actuality, there are more than 100 Wisconsin municipalities where the crime rate did not rise more than half the communities included in the best available FBI data.
That makes Sanfelippos claim not only false, but ridiculous. We rate this Pants on Fire.

(23,738 posts)1. Side note: The Sanfelipo family in Milwaukee has been mobbed up for decades
I dealt with his father and uncle decades ago in the cab industry.
Not as well connected as the Balistreri's (at least not 40 years ago), but not honest either.
I'd forgotten he was in the State legislature.

when one of the Balistreri's came to law school there.
I learned a lot about the Milwaukee mob just because he was around. I read later that he went to jail for ten years.

tend to track in a similiar fashion. So if their is a poverty issue, well gee whiz, damn bet crime follows.

not gerrymandered by the f**king GOP.
