Edmonds mayor names candidate for next police chief
EVERETT Edmonds mayor Mike Rosen has selected a candidate to serve as the next police chief, according to a City Council agenda posted Thursday.
The mayor selected Assistant Police Chief Loi Dawkins, who has served in the position since 2022. Before working with the Edmonds Police Department, she spent more than 18 years at the King County Sheriffs Office and served as chief of the Muckleshoot Police Department.
In October 2024, former chief Michelle Bennett announced her retirement amid budget turmoil. Assistant Chief Rod Sniffen has served as acting police chief since March.
According to the agenda item, Rosen conducted interviews and surveys with community members and city staff throughout the selection process. Rosen chose three candidates for the final portion of the process, which included an analysis presentation, written exercise and structured interview with city staff.
