Early seeks re-election in Laurel Fork
U.S. Air Force veteran, retired pilot and experienced supervisor Joseph Jody H. Early III is seeking re-election as the Laurel Fork District member of the Carroll County Board of Supervisors. He faces a challenge from David Riggen in a Republican Primary on June 17 in Carroll County.
My family immigrated to America in the mid-1700s traveling through the Shenandoah Valley, settling in southwest Virginia and Carroll County in the early 1800s, Early said. As a 7th generation Early, I have a deep appreciation for the culture and history of where we live.
Born in Radford in 1958, Early grew up in Hillsville, graduating from Carroll County High School in 1976. Upon graduation from the University of Virginia, he was commissioned a second lieutenant in the United States Air Force.
I served honorably for 30 years in the USAF and Virginia Air National Guard with multiple combat deployments to war theaters in the Middle East and Bosnia. I retired from the military in 2011 as a Colonel, Early said. Concurrent with my service in the Virginia Air National Guard, I was employed as a pilot for USAirways and American Airlines, flying passengers safely for 35 years and retiring in 2023.
