Bexar County DA Joe Gonzales decides not to seek re-election, source confirms
SAN ANTONIO - Bexar County District Attorney Joe D. Gonzales has announced he is not running for re-election in 2026, according to a source.
Gonzales graduated from St. Mary's University in 1981 with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. He then went on the attend the St. Mary's University School of Law, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1988.
Gonzales took office in January of 2019 after defeating Tylden Shaeffer. He was re-elected to a second term in 2022.
