Longtime Rice Twp. supervisor won't run for re-election

When Rice Twp. voters go to the polls for the primary election on May 20 they won’t see Bob Pipech’s name on the ballot.

Though his seat on the township board of supervisors is open, the long-time supervisor has decided not to seek re-election.

It’s time,” Pipech said very simply during an interview this week at the municipal building when asked why he decided not to seek re-election after serving for most of the last two decades.

While he won’t be at the table when supervisors reorganize next January, Pipech, who was roadmaster for most of his tenure, certainly will have left his mark on the township. When I asked Pipech what he feels his legacy will be he pointed to three areas — public works, the police department and recreation.
