30 Miles from Extinction: The Story of the Crystal Skipper

Is this one of North Carolina’s rarest butterflies?

30 Miles from Extinction: The Story of the Crystal Skipper is a documentary about a species most people will never see, and the people working quietly to protect it. Found only along a narrow stretch of barrier islands on the North Carolina coast, the Crystal Skipper depends on a fragile ecosystem that is constantly changing.

This film follows scientists and conservationists as they study the butterfly’s habitat, track its population, and work to understand what it needs to survive. Along the way, the story becomes something bigger, about attention, stewardship, and what it means to care for the small things before they disappear.

Happy Sunday Everyone!
Keep the faith. ❤️

Like many things on the coast, I hear that they are not around like they used to be. (n/t) OldBaldy1701E 1 hr ago #2
