Reno election results: Marshall (D) leads mayor's race, Duncan (R) expected to become next district attorney
Washoe County District Attorney candidate Wes Duncan claimed victory Wednesday after leading in polls over longtime incumbent DA Chris Hicks.
Duncans campaign repeatedly referenced Hicks practices and policies as a reason to vote for Duncan. Hickss plea bargaining and charging policies leading to a growing backlog of court cases, Hickss wife working under him, not prosecuting cases police and victims said were valid and lack of support by police locally and statewide were all cited as reasons not to vote for him.......
Reno politics newcomer Kate Marshall held a strong lead over other mayoral candidates following the close of polls on Tuesday. The former Biden Administration official and state treasurer was viewed favorably by voters. Results to date show Marshall leading by a wide margin she received 44% of total votes counted to date.
Council member Kathleen Taylor, at the time of publication, is looking to be Marshalls challenger in the general election. She received 20% of votes, while serial candidate Eddie Lorton received 19%. The narrow margin between them means Marshalls challenger in November is too close to call.
