Kansas Secretary of State announces resignation of Johnson County Election Commissioner

JOHNSON COUNTY, Kan. — Johnson County Election Commissioner Fred Sherman has resigned, Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab announced Thursday.

Sherman had served as the county’s election commissioner since 2021, overseeing multiple local, state and federal elections during his tenure.

Schwab credited Sherman with helping manage elections that included post-election audits and recounts, calling his work an important part of the county’s election process.

“I thank Fred for his service to the people of Johnson County,” Schwab said. “I appreciate his commitment to administering elections that are safe, secure, and transparent.”
