First incumbent on city commission ballot; Tyler Curtis files for election Monday
The Emporia City Commission has its first incumbent on the ballot for November.
Commissioner Tyler Curtis filed his paperwork with the Lyon County Clerks office Monday, saying he was waiting for just the right time to throw his hat into the ring and Monday was the perfect time.
Curtis is the newest member of the current commission, having been appointed to serve the remainder of Danny Giefers late term in office since August. While Curtis has only served on the commission for the last 8 months, he is no stranger to leadership roles.
Currently the Chief Development Officer for the United Methodist Foundation, Curtis has served on several boards and committees across the local area, including as a member of the Emporia Enterprises Board, the Emporia Middle School Site Council, the Emporia Area Chamber of Commerce Government Matters Committee, the SOS Board of Directors and more. Curtis believes his wealth of knowledge in leadership roles and his studious personality will serve him well if he is elected to a full term on the commission.
