GRRRRRRRRR.

ICE detained a person who was driving with a child in North Chicago as the federal agents were again spotted making immigration arrests in the Lake County area on Wednesday. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents were spotted on Wednesday morning in both Waukegan and North Chicago.

Agents stopped a blue four-door sedan and detained the driver in the car, which was also occupied by a child, in the area of 11th Street and Jackson Street in North Chicago around 8:20 a.m., according to bystanders and Mano a Mano Family Resource Center.

Waukegan Mayor Sam Cunningham said he was aware of reports of federal immigration enforcement activity in the Waukegan area. “I want to remind all residents that every individual, regardless of immigration status, has fundamental legal rights, including the right to remain silent, the right to speak to an attorney, and the right to refuse entry to their home unless the agents can present a warrant signed by a judge,” Cunningham sai

The mayor said that anyone who sees activity involving federal agents or needs assistance to call the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights’ Family Support Network Hotline at 855-435-7693.

Make a note of that phone number, folks. There's no telling when one of us may need to use it!
