WASHINGTON — DC Police continue to search for a man wanted in connection to the shooting death of Congressional intern Eric Tarpinian-Jachym. During the course of their investigation, detectives now believe the same man, 18-year-old Naqwan Antonio Lucas, is connected to the shooting death of 17-year-old Zoey Kelley.

Tarpinian-Jachym, 21, from Granby, Massachusetts, was working in D.C. as an intern for Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kan.). Just before 10:30 p.m. on June 30, he was hit in a drive-by shooting near the Mount Vernon Square 7th Street-Convention Center Metro station. The next day, he died from his injuries in the hospital. … Police do not believe he was the target. They believe there were multiple shooters and that it stemmed from an ongoing "dispute" between rival groups. A 16-year-old boy and a woman were also injured in the shooting.

Lucas is not yet in custody. On Friday, DC Police detectives announced he is wanted in connection with a second homicide in the District. This one happened just a few days after Tarpinian-Jachym died from his injuries at the hospital. On July 4, just after 5 p.m., officers were called for a report of trouble inside a home in the 1700 block of Benning Road, Northeast. Officers found Kelley unconscious and not breathing, suffering from a gunshot wound. Her death has been ruled a homicide.

Anyone with information to share with police is urged to call DC Police's tip line a 202-727-9099 or text the department's tip line at 50411.
