Driver ambushed, attacked by group of kids in Northwest DC carjacking

WASHINGTON (7News) D.C. police are looking for a group of kids who allegedly assaulted a driver, stole their car, and crashed it in the Northwest area on Saturday evening.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), the incident happened around 7:26 p.m. on Oct. 25 near the intersection of 7th Street and Rhode Island Avenue, Northwest.
Police said a person was driving when a crowd of young people surrounded the vehicle, forcing the driver to stop abruptly. The group then reportedly attacked the victim, who tried to escape but was attacked a second time before finally getting away.
Two carjackers got in the victim's car and sped off, crashing shortly after in the 600 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northwest, according to MPD officials. They then ran away from the scene.
No arrests have been announced as of Sunday afternoon. MPD is still investigating the incident.
