Two Delaware high school athletes were taken by helicopter to Christiana Hospital on Friday night. … A high school boys soccer player was airlifted with possible head and chest injuries from Newark Charter High School.

According to New Castle County paramedics, at 8:20 p.m. on Sept. 6, paramedics were dispatched to a game between Newark Charter and Indian River. They found a 17-year-old with possible head and chest injuries. … A Delaware State Police aviation helicopter flew him to Christiana Hospital in Stanton. He was in serious condition at the time. It is unknown at this time which team he is on.

An hour earlier in St. Georges, a high school football player was taken by a Delaware State Police helicopter to Christiana Hospital during a game between St. Georges Tech and Saint Mark's.

Odessa Fire Company responded to an 18-year-old Saint Mark's player and requested paramedics from state police and New Castle County Paramedics at 6:27 p.m. Friday. He was in serious but stable condition. … "It was more precautionary than anything," said Saint Mark's football head coach Joe Wright after the game. "Any time they get tender on the back of the neck, we are precautionary."
