Fairfield election complaints dismissed by state commission

FAIRFIELD — The State Elections Enforcement Commission has dismissed two complaints against Fairfield officials filed by opposing party leaders, which some described as "tit-for-tat" grievances.

On May 21, the SEEC dismissed a complaint filed by Fairfield Republican Town Committee Chair Laura Devlin against democratic Fairfield First Selectman Bill Gerber and state Rep. Jennifer Leeper, D-Fairfield.

In her complaint filed in July 2024, Devlin alleged the town illegally promoted Leeper's reelection campaign by reposting on its Instagram account Leeper's posts about three events — the Sea Ceremony, Blessing of the Fleet and the Pride flag raising.

The posts were shared in May and June of 2024.
