Meghan McCain Returning To 'The View' Next Week After Maternity Leave

The View co-host Meghan McCain will return to her chair on Monday, January 4, after having been away from the daytime talk show since the birth of her daughter in September.

McCain, who holds the conservative seat on the panel that includes Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro, announced her pregnancy in March and had been co-hosting remotely before the birth as a precaution due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In August, McCain swiped back at suggestions she wouldn’t return to the show at all; she has been known to butt heads with her co-hosts and guests during heated discussions.

“Why does everyone ask me if I’m getting fired or quitting every 20 seconds?” McCain said in August in response to a viewer question on Bravo’s Watch What Happens: Live With Andy Cohen. “No other host has to deal with this BS. Yes, I’m coming back!”

1. I was so hoping she'd decide to take a year, or ten, off.

The show has been really nice to watch, with out her.

asked of guests were so clueless that I increasingly found it cringe-worthy). But, now, I won't even be curious.

3. The set up with everyone appearing remote has made discussions really choppy.

Technical glitches, bad connections - questioning guests has been awkward. HOWEVER, the lack of Meghan's shrill, screeching pronouncements read off of her stack of blue cards has still made the production quality seem just fine, by comparison.

Apparently they've had some good numbers, without her. She's far from a viewer favorite. People really like Ana Navarro. Ana is a great fit with everyone BUT Meghan who, rumor has it, isn't a fan of Ana.

I guess if I bother to watch, I'll just keep my remote in hand so I can mute out Meghan's spoon fed nonsense.

4. Yes. I liked Ana Navarro. I just wish all the hosts would do a tiny bit of prep ahead of time.

I don't expect them all to be legal experts, medical experts, or be up on every political issue, but they ought to know the basics that other laypeople would know.

But yeah... Much better without Meghan.

5. Meghan, to me, is one of those people that make me turn channels as soon as she comes on.

There is something about her that makes my skin crawl. It is very unpleasant for me to watch or listen to her.

you would think they could figure out how to stop talking over each other. And I agree they could do a little preparation with each other. Whoope is a very lousy moderator.
