Friday -- Horses, Pete Pt. 2 and Around The Farm, today including a visit from our Boxer grand-dog Pepper.

Last edited Fri Feb 13, 2026, 10:22 AM - Edit history (2)

Meanwhile, back at the old farm —
Pete got into mischief from time to time.

Had a goofy way about him.

He was a lazy grazer.

Handsome fella.

He learned about a saddle.

Rode often with Mom.

And Pete gave our friend Maggie a very good ride one great day.

When we moved to this new farm Maddie arrived first. Pete boarded with
friends and under Laurie's tutelage, taught a young man how to ride.

At summer's end Laurie brought her guy home. He and Maddie were
glad to see each other.

A neighbor girl befriended him. Per her request Pete gave her a nice ride.

No doubt, they'll pick back up come warm weather.
Around The Farm—
Pepper came to stay a few overnights. As usual she was a big help. (NOT!)

Building a wall, Laurie used her bailing-twine method in lieu of two more hands.

It's a tried and true, time-tested process.

My wife is good at screwing around.

Invaluable piece of equipment.

As is her battery-powered Dewalt.

But what about Pepper? She was well-behaved.
Sniffing the recycle bin. (It did not topple over.)

Shadow tolerates her.

Pepper's come to like it here.

And even has her own bed away from home.

Thanks for dropping in. See ya next week.

Each Friday we post about horses in this forum. Those we have known at our old
farm and/or Pete and Maddie, whom we still own. Please feel free to take a look.

Your wife is a treasure of a person.
Off topic - before Obama ran in 2008 I had gone to a campaign rally for only one candidate in my entire life, and that was George McGovern. He had also been the speaker at my college graduation in 1970. I was devastated when he lost to Nixon in '72.

I chose George McGovern for my username because I voted wholeheartedly for him in 1972. Broke my heart too when he lost. I consider Mr. McGovern the greatest president who never was.

I’ve got a friend who is pretty handy and helps me every once in a while but she’s never built a barn! I hope she gets pampered on Valentine’s Day 😍

Did you get the new barn finished yet? Tell Laurie that bungee cords also work well for holding boards. I've put up board fencing by myself that way.

working on the inside pretty steady. She has an electrician waiting for wiring, but water will have to hold off until spring. The horses' water tanks in the corrals have heaters in them. Yup, gettin' there. Thank You!
