There is nothing softer than the nose of a horse.

(14,391 posts)I had a beautiful paint horse.
I loved snuggling her nose on my face and giving it a little kiss.
I miss her (Lucy was her name).
Thank Maddie's mom for me.

(2,696 posts)... 60-odd years ago, I had a wonderful horse. He was a 14'2 Pinto (Paint?) gelding named Patch, who also had a watch eye on his left. He was a jug-head Mustang from somewhere out west, I assumed, because he had a brand on his left flank, H Bar E. The H and the E shared a vertical stroke, and the horizontal stroke crossed between the two letters. I was always curious about the brand, but in the early 1960's, I didn't know where to begin to research it.
Seeing Maddie's markings, so close in pattern to Patch's, though his were dark brown, got me to thinking about that brand again.
Thanks, George, for bringing back the memory!

(2,696 posts)... is me at about 14, aside my faithful steed, Patch! I'm 78 now, and haven't been on a horse in 10 years or so. I miss it. One thing I don't miss, though, is when he got tired of a ride, he'd buck a little bit, and I invariably came down on the saddle horn. It's a wonder I'm not a soprano, instead of a baritone!

Thanks,

(8,818 posts)Prior to moving week Laurie trailered her horses, Maddie and her half-brother Pete, to board with good friends close to our soon-to-be new farm. Whereas Maddie's with us now, Pete's still boarding because our friends' seven--year-old son took a shine to Pete. Laurie's been giving the youngster riding lessons on Pete in exchange for all the board. Pete will move in with us sometime before next winter.
Thank You for your interest!
