I dont think Good Vibrations would have been as layered as it turned out to be. Dont get me wrong, I think Brian Wilson was a genius, but he had the benefit of a virtually unlimited studio budget with the best session musicians in the business which gave him the freedom to see what worked, what didnt, and of those things he liked, what worked together.
Lets face it; the lyrics to the song are pretty simplistic. Its the backing track that makes it a classic. Would it have been the same track if the budget had been for 2-3 days of studio time, as opposed to what was often multiple sessions per week over six months?
