During a game a high fly came my way. I just stood there and somehow the ball came to me. I guess I had enough sense to raise up my glove and the ball fell into it! After that I asked to play second base and that worked out.

First, Iiked John's stuff forever, even though it's far from the kind of music I've played. Just something about his style & voice.
Second, centerfield was the only position I ever played in baseball.
Wanted to be a 2nd baseman, but coaches always said "You're fast, you have a good arm, you need to play center."

So we have a former second baseman and a former center fielder here!

Second base you need to be able to turn the double play. Center fielder you need to be fast and a wizard with the glove.

Wanna hear something hilarious? When I was in college, one spring they started dorm intramurals. Being girls, we played softball. Our coach was a senior phys ed major. When we all met at the diamond for the first time, positions were sussed out and assigned, but no one wanted to be catcher because nobody wanted to wear the catchers equipment. So I thought, what the heck, and stepped forward and said, “I’ll do it!” Tools of ignorance, am I right? Well we had a blast. We started off awful but got better after every game. We made the finals but lost. I actually tagged out a runner coming home! If you knew me better you would see I’m the exact opposite of who you’d pick to be a catcher. Back then I was a quiet, skinny, book-ish art major. I think I probably knew the rules better than most, however. Oh well - fun times!
