An update on your efforts to help me get to Minneapolis to see my friend Rory who is terminal with Cancer.
You have raised $500 of the $800 dollars that I will need to cover the car rental and anticipated gas cost.
$561 roughly for the car rental from October 30 to November 13 from Enterprise and $240 for gas I haven't asked for anything else as I can pack food and I will be staying with them and I'm sure they'll feed me.

I called the MN Gophers @ debm55's brilliant suggestion to see if we can get him to a Gophers football game before he passes as he has been a die hard fan since the mid 60's and they are giving him tickets for the game against Michigan State University on November 1st. Due to his MS he hasn't attended a game in at least 30 years so this will be a memory he will treasure to the very last moment. (Big shoutout to Lisa in the Alumni Association and Larae in the ticket office!)
They are sending some swag so he can be dressed up a little and I'm just so overwhelmed at the kindness of people when given the chance.
On a side note, If you ever wonder why I call you family, there is no finer example of family than Debm55.
We speak on the phone fairly often and it was her suggestion to try this that got the ball rolling, and her complete selflessness and skill at listening so well led her to offer the perfect suggestion for the situation.
There are so many of you that offer your "family" gifts in your own ways, and that is what makes DU such a sacred space. Yes,, we are a destination for people with common political beliefs, but that is the façade of what is actually a network of many families coming together however they can.
That has always been why I'm here and I treasure every visit!
