I learned in the 80s she had been in a camp in Easter Europe.
She was very very very mean to 8th graders. I hope she found peace

5. I remember exactly two. One who held me in the cafeteria in 1st grade to try to force me to eat congealed mystery meat

(I did not give in, despite hours sitting there)... LOL Mrs. Schuyler

And one who knew I was interested in med school (and had me dissecting all kinds of species in junior high biology):
Mr. Miller.

That's about it. Lots of instructors at multiple universities, but I only remember those two (one because of mild "abuse" and one who encouraged me)

6. Mrs. See. Viisitation H.S. Chicago 1958-1962 era American History teacher.

I never knew a teacher could be so great. Brought American history to life. I hated school but loved her class.

his name. I didn't like him because he would give kids a knuckle sandwich on top your head. He lost his job over it when I was in the sixth grade

Not sure I remember all the nuns from grade school, but I remember all my HS teachers & all the profs in undergrad, at least in my major.
Pretty sure I remember all the lay teachers from grade school.

14. From First through Sixth Grade. Starting in 7th, I had a different teacher for every subject.

I listed only the teachers I liked (though there are a few more I can't remember their names).

Except for one- Mrs Bernstein. I probably remember her bc of the dislike, and maybe imprinted bc despite my dislike I was shocked when after being called out of the room she returned practically gray-white faced. She'd just been informed that JFK had been shot!

Much more pleasantly in my 7th grade I had an African-American, or African-Caribbean Woman Science teacher. This was ?1967; so it might have been unusual for the time; though that didn't occur to me.

The one "bad" thing was the time she opened a plastic bin of what I called "swamp water" (had little plants in it). Well, it stank!!! Half of us moved to the back of the classroom trying to get away!!! 😄😬

This was so she could put a drop of it on a slide for the microscope. I can remember seeing a paramescium.

The coolest experiment was was using a device that split water into Hydrogen and Oxygen. So at the top were 2 nozzles; each one having a balloon attached to it.
Water = H2O. So twice the hydrogen, to the oxygen. Thus the hydrogen balloon blew up twice as big as the oxygen one.

In Art College I took Comparitive Religion which was really interesting. This was ?1972. Our teacher was a Quaker; who also was The Draft Counselor, during the Vietnam War.
We visited a Jewish Temple, some ?Christian Church, a Buddhist Temple, up to his hometown for a Quaker's meeting, Dorthy Day's _________ ?Catholic Workers house, The Japan House (near the UN) for a Tea Ceremony: Zen Buddhist, and Shintoism. One of the lovelist parts was it taking place in a traditional paper, and wood slatted walled room.

I don't think we went to a Hindu Temple, and definitely not a Mosque.
It was a great course!

Mrs. Connolly; the 3rd grade teacher who must have been related to Popeye's Sea Hag; Miss Thompson the PE teacher who wore white ankle socks with low-heeled pumps; Mr. Swierczynski, Miss Bell, Mr. Ziccardi, Mr. Yates, Mrs. Erdman, Mr. Joecks, Mr. Krause, Mr. Bowne, Mr. Ludwig, Mrs. Koronka, Mr. Waleski, Mr. Edelhoff. Some really amazing teachers among these folks.

20. Miss Ironside, third grade. She did her best to live up to the name.

Mrs Kent, 1st grade. Nice, motherly type.

After that it's a blank, until we get to high school, where I can remember a couple of names.
