Update on my gas dryer situation: waiting for a part...

My plumber was here and we are now waiting on a part to fix the dryer. My cleaning lady is available on Sunday if it is fixed by then. That means we have a day and a half to get this dryer running again.

I just hope this plan goes well. If not, I'll air dry what is still wet in the hope that nothing mildews. If it does mildew, will wash/dry again. At some point, we'll get this resolved.

A new dryer is always an option, if an expensive (and unnecessary) one. The way this has worked out is depressing...

1. What was the part ?

I’m guessing a thermocouple?

2. What Was The Part, CTY?

If it's something simple like a solenoid, you should be able to get that fixed in under a half hour.
Also, if it's some simple part, that suggests you don't need a new dryer.
Finally, keep running the dryer cold, letting it tumble until dry.
Keeping it moving will really help prevent mildew.

actually, I'd prefer it run too hot...at least stuff would get dry and I could leave it till it cooled down...

5. If you have room in your refrigerator or freezer,

put your damp clothes in a plastic bag in there--no mold or mildew.

6. OK. It'll have to wait til Thursday. But I'll save on not having to get a new dryer.

My cleaning lady will have less to do when she comes on Sunday, that's all and it's OK.

Nothing mildewed and it wasn't much anyway.

I'm considering using the air dry function for some laundry items. The plumber said I could use it, no problem.
