BREAKING: Trump's Plan to Lock Away Political Opponents
Donald Trump has invented the mental illness “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” the defining symptom of which is disagreeing with Donald Trump. His White House spokesman has called it a “crippling disease that has unfortunately rotted the brains of many people.” Just last week, Trump posted an AI-generated video portraying himself as a doctor “treating” celebrity critics who supposedly suffer from the fictitious disorder.
After Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib criticized him during his State of the Union address in February, Trump described them as having “the bulging, bloodshot eyes of crazy people, LUNATICS, mentally deranged and sick who, frankly, look like they should be institutionalized.” Their “sickness” was that they had called Donald Trump a liar.
Omar and Tlaib are not isolated examples. Trump has called House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries a “lunatic,” while demanding that he be criminally charged. He also called Rep. Al Green a “lunatic,” Illinois Governor JB Pritzker “crazy,” Mayor Zohran Mamdani a “100% lunatic,” and former special counsel Jack Smith “deranged.” After Rob Reiner was murdered, Trump claimed that he had suffered from an “incurable” and “mind crippling disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome.” The language has now migrated from Trump’s personal insults into the official machinery of the presidency. The White House has used its government website to accuse American critics of suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome,” declaring that physician Jeremy Faust had the condition and was therefore “incapable” of assessing Trump’s fitness for office, accusing Rep. Eugene Vindman of having a “terminal case” of it, and claiming that Pritzker was “too blinded” by the supposed disorder to govern properly.
This is no longer merely the vocabulary of a schoolyard bully. Trump’s opponents are not simply wrong — they are diseased, deranged, crazy, and insane. And once a government begins defining dissent as mental illness, the question of what that government believes should happen to the “mentally ill” becomes a matter of urgent importance.
