A Reason for Hope in the Fight for Reproductive Rights

In 2022, the Supreme Court threw out the basic right to abortion in this country.

As hearts sank in women across the country at the Dobbs decision, patients were distressed as abortion bans popped up across the country, people fled to other states for care, doctors were afraid of being sued, and rural maternity care dwindled even further. That big blow has even prompted hundreds of additional lawsuits, appeals, and rulings at all levels of courts.

But this week, we can celebrate at least one worthy victory in the fight to keep the government out of our medical decisions.

The Supreme Court intervened and overturned a lower court ruling, and allowed doctors to continue prescribing mifepristone via telemedicine visits and delivery of the medication via mail.
