U.S. Mint Produces A $1 Coin Bearing Trump's Face To Help Celebrate America's 250th Birthday

Source: Huffington Post

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Mint has begun producing a new $1 coin bearing President Donald Trump’s face to help celebrate America’s 250th birthday, the Treasury Department said Wednesday.

The final design for the commemorative coin, being released in the fall, was approved earlier this year by the U.S. Commission of Fine Arts, whose members were appointed by Trump. But the finished product unveiled Wednesday differs from that version in a few aspects, including that it is not made of gold but rather has a gold finish.

The coin is intended “to honor the enduring legacy of liberty and a lasting symbol of patriotism,” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a post on X. “Featuring President Trump, it celebrates the strength of American values, and the promise of a nation dedicated to preserving freedom for all.”
(snip)
Trump, a Republican, has a penchant for putting his name and likeness in the historical record, following his renaming of the U.S. Institute of Peace, the Kennedy Center performing arts venue and a new class of battleships, among other tributes. The move to put his face on the gold coin has drawn criticism in particular because federal law prohibits the depiction of a living president on U.S. currency, though the treasury secretary has the authority to authorize the minting and issuance of coins in some circumstances.

There is no official circulating U.S. Mint Presidential $1 coin for Jimmy Carter Bill Clinton. By law, the U.S. Mint Presidential $1 coin program required former presidents to be deceased for at least two years before a coin could be issued.

Delusional? Seriously, his ugly mug really should be in Webster's nest to the word. Also, next to "war criminal", "inept", "blowhard", "racist", "misogynist" and, of course, "pedophile," and many, many others.

Banks have to special order them.

Britain has a 1 LB coin. and it is one excellent circulating coin because it is about the size of a nickel but it is thicker and has weight and it feels like something substantial.

Maybe some Maggots will order a roll or two. The rest will remain in Treasury's storage from now until the Republicans Party ends the United States of America as we know it.

Also, “has a penchant for putting his name and likeness in the historical record, following his renaming of ……..the Kennedy Center performing arts venue”?

Way to sanewash, HuffPoo.

How about has a pathological obsession with seeing his name and likeness everywhere he turns…..including strangely adding his name to the John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts, designated by Congress to be a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy.

... not all lasers are made equal. This one, however, is strong enough to etch into the metal of a dollar coin.

I have a place for it... right next to my Bambu Lab A1 3d printer.

But like anything... once you get started in a tech-y hobby like this the expenses mount far beyond the basic equipment. So many fun accessories to add on.
