NEW YORK, June 21 (Reuters) - People caught vandalizing the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on Washingtons National Mall will be fully prosecuted, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro said on Sunday.
President Donald Trump has blamed vandalism for recent problems with the newly renovated pool, including its new blue paint peeling off. Citations for vandalism have been issued, Pirro said on Sunday, adding that even minor crimes must be prosecuted to keep the U.S. capital safe.
The peeling paint was visible in the 2,000-foot-long rectangular pool, a major national landmark, less than two weeks after Trump declared its $14.7 million renovation project completed on June 6. Trump on Saturday claimed, without providing evidence, that vandals poured corrosive chemicals into the pool.
Anyone who is in a position of vandalizing or attempting to vandalize will face the criminal justice system in D.C., Pirro told Fox News Sunday Briefing program.

If I could save time in a bottle
The first thing that I'd like to do
Is to save every day 'til eternity passes away
Just to spend them with you
If I could make days last forever
If words could make wishes come true
I'd save every day like a treasure, and then
Again, I would spend them with you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with
If I had a box just for wishes
And dreams that had never come true
The box would be empty
Except for the memory of how they were answered by you
But there never seems to be enough time
To do the things you want to do once you find them
I've looked around enough to know
That you're the one I want to go through time with

1- using a dark color - anyone who knows pools knows that a dark color makes the bottom warm, which promotes Algae growth
2 - using Hydrogen peroxide will remove paint.

(34,938 posts)Not vandalism...but I probably would have grabbed a piece of that stuff just out curiousity. It's not hurting anything. I guess if they post signs about not touching it, I guess it could result in a citation. But my hunch is that they didn't even have signs posted.

(677 posts)If you don't pull off paint still attached to the bottom of the pool but only remove floating debris it sounds like you are helping to clean the park, not vandalize it.
As for why anyone would "vandalize" the "beautiful" pool - it must be because "Democrats hate America!"
Nope. Still can't wrap my brain around it.

Imaging the damage these people would be doing if they were as competent as Hitler's people. Hitler had a real mission other than himself. It was a terrible vision for humanity, but the point is that Hitler had a huge desire for it to be successful globally. While he led the charge, his vision was of a highly organized hierarchy, where strong leaders were in place at every level.
Trump's vision is personal wealth and unlimited personal power. He doesn't want ANY competent people around him. He only wants people who will follow his orders and help him achieve his crimes. These are not competent people. In fact, it is hard to imaging any less competent people thatn Pirro, Kennedy, Witkoff etc.
Miller may be the one exception. Hitler would have hired Miller in a heartbeat. How many of the others would Hitler have hired into positions of major authority?
