WASHINGTON (AP) Vice President JD Vance announced Wednesday that the Trump administration would temporarily halt some Medicaid funding to the state of Minnesota over fraud concerns, as part of what he described as an aggressive crackdown on misuse of public funds.
Medicaid is the U.S. health care safety net for low-income Americans. As of late 2025, nearly 70 million people were enrolled nationwide.
Vance, who made the announcement with Dr. Mehmet Oz, the administrator for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, said the administration was taking the action in order to ensure that the state of Minnesota takes its obligations seriously to be good stewards of the American peoples tax money.
Wednesdays move is part of a larger Trump administration effort to spotlight fraud around the country. That effort comes after allegations of fraud involving day care centers run by Somali residents in Minneapolis prompted a massive immigration crackdown in the Midwestern city, resulting in widespread protests.

(41,075 posts)I believe it was 80 limos, but I could be off by a few. Kash Patel got his $75K taxpayer-paid trip to the Winter Olympics, and I'm still waiting to hear whether he paid for his own tickets. Probably the taxpayers picked up the tab for those too.
The corruption in this government is just staggering. And they've all got permission from Chump, who's the most corrupt of them all.
And THEY are worried about MINNESOTA?

They don't need a reason to do what you mention, so why act like this action will give them a reason?
If they wanted to go after someone, they have and will. The 'legality' of it is not even on the list as far as 'reasons' are concerned.
SO, why is Minnesota considered one of the states that give the most to the Federal government if the only amount that comes from the state is taxed income of their employees? Where is the rest coming from? Why is it impossible to restrict or remove that flow?
It just seems to me that this is yet another example of how programmed we are, that we can't seem to figure out how a larger contributing state can stop 'contributing'.
