Trump officials refer Biden-era FEMA staff to DOJ for potential criminal charges

Source: The Hill

The Trump administration has sent a referral to the Department of Justice recommending Biden-era Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) staff face criminal charges, alleging politicization of emergency funding.

However, the effort to claim officials at the disaster agency considered politics when performing their duties has apparently turned up only a handful of instances of FEMA employees mentioning political figures during former President Biden’s time in office.

A press release from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Tuesday accuses FEMA officials under the prior administration of having “systematically refused aid to disaster survivors on purely political discrimination.”

It also raises the specter of charges for former FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell, arguing she was wrong when she testified under oath that one FEMA employee’s instruction not to canvas houses hit by Hurricane Milton if they had a Trump sign was simply an isolated incident. “The actions of this employee are unacceptable, and it is not indicative of the culture of FEMA, and I do not believe that there is a widespread cultural problem,” Criswell said when testifying before the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee last year.

after armed MAGat thugs and RW "militias" started threatening FEMA workers who were doing door-knock checks looking for those needing assistance, and who eventually received guidance to protect the safety of those employees, and mitigate dangerous confrontations.

This happened in both NC and TN -

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Witnesses reported seeing a group of armed people harassing hurricane relief workers in a remote Tennessee community last weekend, a sheriff said Wednesday as a man in North Carolina appeared in court for allegedly threatening aid workers in that state.

Show me where “politicization of emergency funding” is a crime.

What is - malicious prosecution.

Politicization of FEMA...now who would do such a thing as King Trump chooses who gets disaster funds and who does not based on voting. Alaska gets money because they vote Republican. He just said so yesterday or the day before.

Remember when Texas refused money from Biden and then that flooding disaster killing kids? Talk about politicization of emergency funding. Trump refuses to help blue states and cities.

I don’t believe for a second that Biden’s FEMA discriminated against Trump voters. They gave red states disaster relief. Trump is the one threatening blue states.

Not because of FEMA, but because of the state government. They were unprepared for a catastrophe of that magnitude. Of course, people blamed FEMA because that's what they were told on Fox News and other outlets.

They've refused FEMA assistance for Western Maryland's floods earlier this year, but approved for neighboring counties in West Virginia. Of course, the MAGAts in Western MD are blaming our (black) governor.
