'Political suicide': Elon Musk slams Trump's megabill before critical Senate vote

Source: USA Today

Updated June 28, 2025, 5:42 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON - Billionaire Elon Musk, President Donald Trump’s former adviser on cutting government spending, fired off another set of attacks against the president’s legislative package for potentially killing millions of jobs.

Musk, the former head of the advisory Department of Government Efficiency, had quieted his harsh criticism of Trump and the legislation the week after his departure from government May 30.

But he blasted the bill again on June 28 less than an hour before the Senate was prepared to hold a critical vote to begin debate.

“The latest Senate draft bill will destroy millions of jobs in America and cause immense strategic harm to our country!” Musk said on social media. “Utterly insane and destructive. It gives handouts to industries of the past while severely damaging industries of the future.” Musk added in a later post that “Polls show that this bill is political suicide for the Republican Party.”

The Democrats wouldn't touch him but it'd be funny to see it.

The same people that backed Cuomo might be willing to give Musk a second chance…

The smell of greenbacks is a powerful aphrodisiac, especially to the “morally flexible”.

He served his purpose, and can be safely discarded, just like anyone else no longer needed by Clementine Caligula.

7. Still pissed about those EV credits I see. He should be.

It's tailored to end them super quick for those who've been in the EV market for a while....like Tesla. A deliberate poke in Elmo's eye. I hate to see the incentives go, but still, it is kind of funny.

What's that sound? Why that's the flushing sound of a quarter billion dollars Elmo spent on Donnie's reelection going round the bowl and down the hole.

If Washington were serious about switching to EV, they'd remove the 100% tariff on BYD. You can buy one at 1/3 the price of a Tesla everywhere except the US.

Musk is aware of the damage he has helped inflict on America. But I don't think that he really cares about the human carnage. In some ways, he is like Trump, the only difference is he pays for his sexual needs while Trump steals his.

No, I think Musk realizes that America is like a business/machine and this bill, Trump, and the actions of DOGE may have killed the engine.

They simply do not consider federal work to be jobs. Until the fools try to do those jobs.
