Putin tells Trump he'll seek revenge for Ukrainian drone strikes

Posting on his Truth Social platform, Trump said the call lasted about an hour and 15 minutes, and the leaders discussed Kyivs audacious weekend drone attack on long-range Russian bombers.
We discussed the attack on Russias docked airplanes by Ukraine, and also various other attacks that have been taking place by both sides, Trump said. It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate peace.

President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields, Trump said, warning that the Kremlin was likely to launch attacks to avenge the drone raids on Russian airbases one at least 3,000 miles from the Ukrainian border that destroyed at least 12 sophisticated Russian bombers. Ukraine said it had damaged 41 aircraft, causing $7 billion worth of damage.
Trump did not say in his post that the White House has demanded constraint, or that he had tried to dissuade Putin from taking action. There is no indication that Trump has spoken to his Ukrainian counterpart, President Zelensky.

Trump says he just spoke with Putin and describes Ukraine's recent drone attack in a way that makes it sound like Russia is a victim

(5,704 posts)nuclear attack on at least Ukraine, to bring them to heel. And if trumpy doesn't start doing what Putin tells him to do in the manner and speed as he did in his first WH go-around, we might be surprised what he sends towards us. After all, we have no national security any longer; no intelligence to speak of in any of the government. Whatever happens will be a much a surprise to trumpy as it would be to us, and finally Putin can achieve his "solution" for at least one troublesome government somewhere.

(7,799 posts)That assessment looks pretty far off base. Not just the 1/3 of Russian nuclear-capable bombers but also "the bridge".
Now it appears that Trump is holding up on more sanctions on Russia to appease Putin into pressuring Iran on a nuclear deal -- a deal that is almost identical to the one that Trump foolishly broke with Iran in his 1st term. So sad that we have a senile old man calling the cockamamie shots on matters of war and peace. Shots that are cringeworthy at best.

(986 posts)be a "good" converation as the old, doddering, empty-head Turd describe it? Can anyone imagine Winston Churchill or Franklin Roosevelt describing a "conversation" with Adolph Hitler as a "good" conversation? Just imagine Roosevelt calling Hitler to discuss Britain's sinking of the German Battleship Bismarck and describing it as a "good" conversation with Hitler!

(7,799 posts)WhenPutin indicated a "revenge" strike was coming, why was there no cautioning Putin about hitting civilian targets? Also, why didn't the subject of "the bridge" getting dropped? It seems like more wasn't talked about than was.
Why didn't Trump talk with European leaders and Zelenskyy before talking to Putin? A lot about this doesn't sound right.
