Hegseth Dismisses Members of Pentagon Advisory Boards

Source: WSJ

WASHINGTON—Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has discharged members of Pentagon advisory boards on defense policy and military technology, adding to the upheaval during his time at the Pentagon, current and former officials said.

In a memo explaining the dismissals at the Defense Policy Board, the Defense Science Board and other advisory panels, Hegseth wrote that the Pentagon requires “fresh thinking to drive bold changes.” It isn’t unusual for a new administration to change the membership of the advisory panels. But Hegseth is directing the wholesale dismissals of board members at several panels.

The panels are made up of former officials, industry executives, academics, scientists and engineers, and have long provided independent and bipartisan analysis and advice to the Defense Department.

“We were thanked for our service,” Michael O’Hanlon, a Brookings Institution defense expert who served on the Defense Policy Board until he was discharged this past week. Several panel members have sent Hegseth a memo on defense issues but haven’t received a response, he said.

I hope the truly brilliant military minds are finding ways to blunt this destruction. Or plotting a coup.

Granted, it's feeling more and more like that's the only way out of this, assuming they succeed in screwing over future elections.

So the greatest military on the face of the earth - ever - needs bold, new, fresh thinking because the makeup - clad in imbecile who used himself as a grotesque patriotic billboard thinks so? Got it.

Ready to resolve this with extreme prejudice, one should be forming soon. This disgrace to everyone who has ever served must be removed, permanently.

17. This sentence from the article sums up so much of what they're doing wrong...

from the article:

Hegseth’s memo said that some advisory panel members who were let go might eventually be retained if it is determined after a case-by-case review that they are needed for the organizations to function.

How about doing the case-by-case evaluation BEFORE getting rid of all the people who you actually do need?

This administration is making Idiocracy look aspirational.
