Luigi Mangione indicted on death penalty-eligible charges in UnitedHealthcare CEO killing

Source: NBC NY

Luigi Mangione was indicted Thursday on a federal murder charge in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, a necessary step for prosecutors to seek the death penalty.

The indictment returned by a grand jury in Manhattan federal court also charges Mangione with two counts of stalking and a firearms count.

It was not immediately clear when the 26-year-old Mangione will be arraigned. A message seeking comment was left for a spokesperson for his lawyers.

Mangione, an Ivy League graduate from a prominent Maryland real estate family, also faces separate state murder charges. He's accused of shooting Thompson, 50, in the back outside a Manhattan hotel on Dec. 4 as the executive arrived for UnitedHealthcare’s annual investor conference.

I remember when this happened and the majority of DUer's praised or excused this heinous crime, just a few of us condemned this, and you were one of the few.
Thanks again for being a voice of reason, personally, I think he deserves life w/o parole, that way he can spend the rest of his miserable life locked up without being a danger to society.

I wouldn't go out and shoot anyone, but I certainly understand it. UHC makes thousands of lives unlivable while making record profits. I certainly didn't shed a tear for Thompson.

let me ask you this.....if that pycho POS killer had MISSED and killed someone else on the street, would you excuse it because, well, he had "GOOD INTENTIONS" ?

seriously, WTF

do you support what Trump is doing with Garcia? Trump claims Garcia is a "bad man" so is it OK to do that to him with no due process? WTF!!!!

If he had missed, it would have been a completely different story, and none of this conversation would have happened.

Next, how you pivot from Luigi to Garcia baffles me. Of course I don't support Trump on Garcia. Or anything, actually. But it is one thing for an individual to commit one act against another individual and be arrested and soon tried for capital murder, and a completely different thing for our CHIEF EXECUTIVE to commit multiple acts on a daily basis harming tens of thousands of people (if not many more) and telling the rest of the government, universities, law firms, allies, and everyone else to bow down to him. Or else.

So, no, it's not utter fucking nonsense. There is nuance to Luigi and UHC. If a jury of 12 decides to nullify, then they are saying enough is enough to the predatory for-profit insurance industry. THAT would have a hell of a lot more of an effect.

VIGILANTE JUSTICE CANNOT BE CONDONED, it is WRONG....there is NO honor is ambushing someone and shooting them in a the back, that is COWARDICE.

I hope that POS coward is sentenced to prison for LIFE.

and both Mangione's victim and Garcia received their punishment WITH NO DUE PROCESS

*DONE HERE*

Yes I'd say he deserves the death penalty, if he's convicted. Or else, life in prison with no chance for parole.
