More than 1000 foreign students had their Visas revoked

Source: CNN

The complaint alleges that ICE has abruptly and unlawfully terminated the students’ legal status in the United States “(…) stripping them of their ability to pursue their studies and maintain employment in the United States and risking their arrest, detention, and deportation.”

The White House and DHS have not responded to CNN’s request for comment.

The administration, the suit says, has terminated their status by removing the students from the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) used by the Department of Homeland Security to maintain information mainly regarding international students and their status in the country.

An interview on CNN that I watched stated that any law enforcement contact caused some of them. A minor traffic stop could cause this. Some are within a few weeks of graduation.

International students usually pay full tuition as undergraduates. It varies with grad students and their programs.

It’s also a good way to build networks of alumni across the globe. …for business and research

It's a small private liberal arts college without a graduate school or scientific research program (most federal funding is in the form of student loans and grants), but they are worried anyhow. I got an email today with a link to this: https://www.macalester.edu/president/messages/2025-04-04-federal-policy-changes-early-april-update/ They have hired an immigration lawyer to help international students and have advised them not to go home for the summer. It just amazes me that we have come to the point where an ordinary small college has to hire lawyers to protect its students from the federal government.

Natural gas and coal.

As others mentioned it's also a bridge to international cooperation and understanding.
