Trump admin releases docs allegedly linking Kilmar Abrego Garcia to MS-13 gang

The Trump administration has released numerous documents allegedly linking Kilmar Abrego Garcia a Maryland man who was recently deported to El Salvador to the notorious MS-13 gang. Attorney General Pam Bondi shared arrest records to social media Wednesday, which claim Abrego Garcia was identified as an active member of MS-13 after being arrested in 2019 in connection to a murder investigation.
One of the documents from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security states that authorities made contact with Abrego Garcia and two other individuals outside of a Maryland Home Depot, and they all "freely admitted being citizens" of El Salvador and "were present in the United States illegally." They were all then taken into custody.
According to the Prince Georges County Police Department in Maryland, Abrego Garcia was wearing a Chicago Bulls hat at the time of his arrest, which allegedly symbolizes a "member in good standing" with MS-13. Authorities claim Abrego Garcia was also wearing a hoodie that symbolized what they describe as being "indicative" of Hispanic gang culture. The document then states that a confidential source confirmed to police that Abrego Garcia was an active member of MS-13.
He was ultimately charged with being in the U.S. illegally and had "no immigration history" at his time of arrest, according to the Department of Homeland Security. Abrego Garcia was one of over 200 individuals deported to El Salvador nearly one month ago. Despite his undocumented status, Abrego Garcia has an American wife and three children. Additionally, he had a court order protecting him from deportation to El Salvador due to credible fears for his life if he returned.

So one "fitting the description" of MS-13 is someone "wearing a Chicago Bulls cap and a hoodie".

And even if he was the Easter Bunny or a member of whatever gang... we have a Constitution and every person has rights.
Trump cannot just declare anyone a criminal based on his say so and then dole out whatever punishment tickles his fancy.

Most of said mouth-breathers believe (and, more to the point, have been trained to believe) that black and brown people are uncivilized savages: violent, criminal, and basically subhuman. They are a danger to all the normal people (guess what determines that), and therefore anything that protects said normal people is justified, even if it means turning a blind eye to any legal protections for the virtual animals.

In Camden NJ, when it was one of the most dangerous cities, the city abolished the entire police department and then rehired only the ones with out issues. Their murder rate plummeted to very low levels. NewarK NJ had a similar success with firing the entire police force and starting over.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, however, alleged that he was a certified gang member based on information that came from a confidential informant used by county police, records state.
According to Abrego Garcias attorneys in his current case, the criminal informant had alleged that Abrego Garcia belonged to an MS-13 chapter in New York, where he has never lived.
The information was enough for an immigration judge in 2019 to keep Abrego Garcia in jail as his immigration case continued, court records state. The judge said the informant was proven and reliable and had verified his gang membership and rank.

(4,259 posts)The "information" was from some alleged witness that a now fired corrupt non-federal cop reported. The county cop was fired for something separate.

(150,860 posts)Yeah that is when Crispy Creme had the (overstretched) Camden County police take over duties in the city. They were a poster child for what happens when you have decades of corrupt cops. And the city paid the price. Never thought I'd see the day, but Camden has made a great come-back.

(5,393 posts)The hoodie was Trayvon's problem, too, it seemed. This falls into the camp of just making shit up to cover your ass and fool as many as you can fool. If you had a decent track record of treating people ethically, you might be able to slip something like this into the press and have some really believe it.
But when you've got a known penchant for lying every time your mouth moves, and have been shown (and admitted yourself) to falsifying documents to benefit yourself, no one with a functioning brain cell is going to believe you, dumbshit.
Proof of life! We demand proof of life... then bring him back and give him due process. Present your evidence and see if you can make a case that sticks. Allow him to face his accusers and make his case. It's an adversarial system. You ought to function just fine in that way... you're acting adversarial to everything that is life as it is.

(5,393 posts)Imagine if we'd adopt the bulls cap and a hoodie as the official "dress" whenever we protested. A sea of hoodies and ball caps at the front of all the state capitols. Hell, it beats what his brownshirts wear to their every demonstration! And it'd be a constant reminder of his terrorism to all people in America. The cap and hoodie on so many people at one time, being the hook that it is, would bring more eyes from the news on us, as well. And all of it a constant reminder being thrown back in trump's face that we will not allow the constitution to fall.

I put that 'evidence' at the same level as that of Putin saying Ukraine invaded Russia, and Israel claiming the Palestinian dead were all Hamas operatives, supporters, or just up to no good.
In short - there is the MS-13 bad guy, arrest him, deport him, we will make up the 'evidence' for doing so later.

(748 posts)If they had real evidence they should have had a hearing before deportation and presented it to a judge. This lack of due process is both criminal and stupid. Just because the Federal Government suspects someone is a gang member does not give them the right to summarily deport that person. The lawlessness of this "administration" is stunning. It is criminal and fascist. I do not trust their post hoc "evidence".

(167 posts)In the arrest report, this is what they reported he was wearing;
Thursday, March 28, 2019 Page 2 of 3
Admitted: Exh . B4
observed he was wearing a Chicago Bulls hat and a hoodie with rolls of money covering the eyes, ears
and mouth of the presidents on the separate denominations.
That's right; the bozos in DHS, particularly Assistant Secretary Dept. of Homeland Security Tricia McLaughlin, glanced thru that report and the idiot was so eager to have some misinformation to spread, that she reported Garcia had
"drugs, and rolls of cash" on his person. How stupid are these folks?

Lengthy, but quite detailed.
Notes - the cop that first claimed Garcia was MS-13 was suspended because of misconduct just a few weeks later - in short, a corrupt cop
The trusted source (actually hearsay) claimed Garcia to be a member of a gang operating in New York - where Garcia had never been.
Now the latest is they're trying to claim he was an domestic abuser - haven't seen any actual evidence -- but if he goes on to rape and pedophilia he'll fit right in Republican culture.

(7,752 posts)Trump 45 errored when they granted Garcia permanent status. Apparently they did not consider wearing a Chicago Bulls hat as evidence of gang activity. The evidence from 2019 has already been adjudicated by Trump 45 and Trump 47 offers no new evidence. So why is this such a hot button issue with Trump 47? Who is pressuring Trump on this matter and why?

(7,712 posts)Is THAT all they have?? They think we're stupid. This is just a lame excuse to cover up the contempt of court they are facing. I am starting to agree that he must be dead, although I haven't yet read what the visiting Senator said. This makes no sense unless you consider how it looks overall. This one is on rump. He's responsible. He can prove he's not dead by bringing him back.
I don't care what any phony "informant" said. In 2019, a Judge said that there was no case there. He was a straight arrow working an apprentice job, with a wife and daughter. If there was anything more, Bondi should have released it. Defamation of a guy they did wrong. Morally corrupt people.
Snatching him was someone getting even for 2019. That's what I think.

(1,226 posts)The evidence is complete bullshit.
Pam Bondi should know that in American courts and law being accused of something is not the same of being found guilty.
In America you are innocent until proven guilty. Now she trots out this supposed evidence. First of all a hat from one of the most popular sports teams and a hoody What a joke.
Then they claim that they have testimony from someone, well I could testify that this administration is criminal and treasonous
Then she claims that there were complaints about assault but if those charges were never taken to court and he was never found guilty then once again this is all just throwing crap on the wall to see if any of it sticks.
These people are trying to see if they can play us all as fools This judge is not going to buy the stories that they are selling and neither am I
If this man has no criminal convictions and they have nothing better than he wore a Chicago Bulls hat and a hoody or there was some kind of domestic disturbances then they need to stop playing games with the courts and stop acting in a completely lawless way and start following legal processes
They already admitted that mistakes were made, they tried to use the War act to suspend due process but were ordered that they couldn't because of the ALCU lawsuit. They disobeyed the immigration judges order from way back that forbid the US to deport him back to El Salvador. then disobeyed another court order that told them not to deport anyone on those planes and now they are disobeying the courts orders to provide information about who exactly disobeyed the orders and are found to be in criminal contempt
All the while they claim to be the party of law and order This is not justice this is the corrupt Department of Injustice This is not American values This is an assaults' on the rule of law and the US Constitution
This is the Dunning Kruger Effect in real life people who think that they are the smartest people in the room showing everyone that they are clearly not
